Meteorites are, besides the moon rocks samples from the apollo missions, the unique extraterrestrial matter which has reached the earth and provides us the possibility to hold them in our hands. At long last however, we as human beings consist of elements once fall down together with meteorites onto the earth . We can conclude from this fact that the earth is perhaps not the only planet in our solar system with existing life even if it probably could be only in forms of microorganisms. Out of the view of scientists, the planet Mars and the moon of Jupiter "Europa" are the possible canditates for life which will need a furher examination in the future.
A lot of people who could held a meteorite in their hands felt in a certain fascination for these space rocks and a passionate collecting activity was born in some of them.
